DearElder.com letter #3

JACOB!!!

I think you'll be happy to hear that the Penguins won their last game 6-0 to the Predators.  They lead 3-2, in the NHL.

Nadal and Thiem, Murray and Wawrinka play early Friday morning.  So my next letter will probably tell you who is going to the Finals in the French Open on Sunday.

Anyways, enough about sports.  How are you, man?  Probably feeling overwhelmed and inadequate.  That's how I felt the first 4 days at the MTC.  All you have to do is make it to Sunday, and it'll all be worth it.  That's the great thing about Sabbath in the MTC.  While you still work, it is a great day of rest.  Less strenuous.

We are all wondering who your new companion is, where he's from, and whether or not he's going to your mission?  Perhaps, you're in a threesome.  that would be crazy.  I never had to serve in a threesome, but that sounded horrible to me.  I'm also curious to know about your district.  I'm wondering if YOU ARE the district leader.  That would be crazy.  I'm wondering if you have met anyone of note, like an apostle or something.  If you have ran into anyone you know from school, or Alejandro.  I have so many questions.

I read the first talk of the woman's session today of General Conference.  I'm just going to paraphrase it.  She talked about Proverbs 3:4-6

"Trust in the Lord with all thine Heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall directs thy paths."

She said when we lean, we are leaning away from the Savior.  She mentioned three points of importance to help us not lean away.

1) Read your scriptures.
2) Pray
3) Serve

If we do these things, we are promised direction on this journey through immortality.

Hope this helps you out in some way.  Good talk.  Read it.  With the read your scriptures point, she tells a funny story.  I won't ruin it for you.

I finally mowed the lawn today in the heat of the day, haha.

President Knudsen and I talked on the radio today.  It was awesome.

Well, I'll check out.  I love you.

Remember, the spirit will be with you when you are making good choices.

Love,
John
