I don't know why, but I slept in til about 12 today. I went downstairs to read and then I watched the last part of Invasion from DC's Legends of Tomorrow, the last of the 4-part crossover. It was a good episode, but what was interesting is right when I finished it, Sarah Trefflich gave me a call. I didn't have time to even turn off the TV and switch it from cast to regular TV.
We had about an hour and a half long conversation. She had already been to work, and I hadn't even taken a shower yet. I wasn't able to go to the gym either. The conversation was a nice one. She made sure at the end of it, that we had scheduled another time to chat in the coming few days. She seems really nice. She told me about her ankle injury, which was a testament to the fact that there are still miracles on the earth. She likes hiking and she fell from bouldering a couple of feet. But miraculously, her bone didn't shatter into a million pieces, it was just really hyper-extended and her tibia dislocated so much you could see the bone jutting out inside her skin. It was too much into the hike that the paramedics had to get a helicopter to pick her up. She said that was the most painful part of the whole ordeal. Since then she has had several surgeries, learning from each one. Crutches, a boot, and physical therapy.
I played the guitar for her because she said there was a song coming on when I mentioned I went to the temple yesterday and did 27 names for initiatories. She started singing "I love to see the temple." So I played that on the guitar, first the melody and then the chords while singing. She then had me guess not well-known songs. I got one out of four that she played. She played hymn #118, "Ye Simple Souls Who Stray." Then she read the lyrics to me very poetically. Yeah, she played the hymns on a piano in her apartment.
We talked about how I don't feel like I am very good at politics. She said that she has a very strong opinion, and asks that persons who have strong opinions why they have those opinions by asking imposing questions. I hope she didn't think I was a pansy when I told her I'm much of a politician. When we were finishing the conversation, she made sure to schedule a time for our next phone conversation, which should be Sunday after Stake Conference at 2ish. Like I said, nice girl. Unsure if there is anything that is going to happen between us since she lives in Provo and I'm here in Cali, but it is nice talking to someone that'll listen.
Mom made Lomo Saltado, a very very good Peruvian dish with Rice and potatoes, onions, tomatoes and meat. It was extremely good. It was also nice to get out of pajamas, because I had been wearing them during the whole conversation between me and Sarah.
After lunch, I went straight to a man in the Northern Fontana wards that needed help moving, that Brother Harris had arranged. He had a huge U-haul truck and tons of boxes in the living room. Before the truck got there I helped them puzzle piece together all the pictures in a van. I was doing a pretty good job. David Wittenberg was there, a guy from the Oleander Ward. And then, in total there were probably 15 or so of us assembly lining boxes to the back of this huge U-haul. Karen Martinez (Sanders) and family was there, her tall husband Andrew was helping with the U-haul truck. Karen was the first girl I even asked out to an event (Mormon prom). I had to go to her house and ask Brother Martinez for her hand (like a blessing for marriage even). She now has 2 girls with another on its way. I got nostalgic looking at her family interacted, husband mother kids and all. It got me feeling lonely again and wondering if I'll ever find that with another person, and soon.
I've been thinking, I have to stop looking for love in the young girls that are preparing to leave on their missions. Why, extremely young, and because it would probably end in heartbreak. That means, older girls, and since I'm 28, finding a girl 3 years older or younger is probably on the mark for my newest prospect. 31 seems really old, when it isn't. I feel this way probably because I havent' broken the 30 mark. I'm still stuck on dating girls that are in their 20s. Can I find someone plus or minus 3 years? Who knows, hopefully.
I just spent the rest of my night watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and America's Got Talent, with mom before dad arrived from a meeting to take mom out to eat somewhere, which is okay because I ate some more lomo for dinner.
