1/9 Returning to Birney and Failed Obituaries

First day back to work went by really well, even though I was at Birney. I took the job yesterday evening and was expecting the worse since the last time I taught there I was told off by another 1st grade teacher for having the kids mess up her book library. I was unsure of her name, until today. Her name is Mrs. Sexton, and she teaches first grade as well. I taught first grade today, not sure how it would go, but it actually wasn't all that bad. I established rules with them, and I improvised some parts of the day. Like, it was raining, and so the kids were inside for first recess and PE, so we played silent ball in a circle, which was her request, and then I improvised with a game of cat and mouse in a circle. We used a bean bag and a piece of tissue. The funny thing, is they were really enjoying it, and the same guy lost twice in that game. There were a lot of kids that needed to go to the nurse for different reasons. I had to tell some of the ailing kids that I wasn't going to send them to the health office. There were funny kids, like Audrey and Mark, who sat across from each other. But overall, besides progressing noisiness, the day actually went by fine. Even Mrs. Sexton didn't say anything bad to me all day, which was nice. One teacher was like, we haven't seen you in a while and was wondering what I was up to, which was nice of her.

Sarah and I decided not to go to the gym today because Sarah had her mentoring appointment with Kirsten, plus some homework that she had to get done.

So, I decided to go to the gym by myself after work, which ended at 2pm, which was so nice. Oh, I was almost pretty late to work today because of traffic. But there wasn't any traffic coming home. The gym was less full today. I did 13 minutes worth of running, recorded the time in my phone. I ran a 10 minute mile today. Then I did some arm workouts and an ab workout. Sarah called me when I got there, and asked me to go to DI to see if they had an immersion blender, which they didn't, and to also call Kaiser Permanente, which I did, to see if we were getting the cards anytime soon and to see if we could look for doctors already. We have to see the primary care physician to be referred to specialists, in Sarah's case, a gynecologist, and in my case, a psychiatrist. I locked myself out of an account because I didn't answer a personal question right. Oh well.

Sarah and I made some nice noodle salad for dinner. It was super good.

Now Sarah is talking to Kirsten (she got all her homework done before) in the other room. I ate some sherbet punch for dessert. We are going to watch the newest episode of The Middle on TV at 8pm, when she's done talking.

I did call mom to see if they had the cards from Kaiser Permanente. She didn't. She told me about a petition going out to New York Times about the obituary of President Monson's life. The petition is to ask for a better obituary to be printed, because they focused on the negative instead of the good. Mostly about LGTBQ rights. Mom is not signing the petition, but she considered it. There were about 100,000 signatures on it already.

5.18 One day til done

Life has been really good. In most ways. Sarah and I decided to start a weightloss program called Optavia. We are a week and two days in to...
