Hey man!
You're probably wondering how I am doing since last I wrote you, because it's been almost two weeks or so since. I AM A MARRIED MAN! And I'm loving it a lot...everything except for the whole I have bills to pay stuff, which we're dealing with, especially at the beginning of this month. With all the stuff, like 10x more insurance besides health, and the biggest expense:rent. So yeah.
The wedding was pretty great. Everyone is saying that it lasted like minutes, but obviously it felt longer to me, because I had to be there like 2 hours before the ordinance. It was great getting her new name at the veil...very sacred. I think I messed up some of that stuff, but they didn't mind. Then walking in with my bride into the sealing room was amazing, seeing all the people there to support us. President Sears was there, which was special. All the people that were there were special to us. The Parisi's, the Harris, the Ellsworths, the O'Neil's, the Johnsons, and my previous Bishop and his wife the Taylors.
We took pictures outside of the temple when we finished. They changed the place you walk out of. Instead of walking out of the front door, you walk out a side door. But it was no less special. We had so many people outside the door, and a good majority of them were Sarah's family.
The reception was good. Sarah's friend Melanie caught the bouquet. I know she really wanted to catch it. Dad gave a toast, heartfelt, and Sarah Rebecca sang a song to me. All in all, it was a good reception.
The honeymoon was great. Short, but good. I will spare you the details and talk about this week.
So, we had already been moving furniture in an apartment here in Bloomington. It's close to the Swap Meet, on the same road. Since I didn't have to work, I did all of the moving things and organizing of my stuff. Sarah had to work this whole week. So, I spent most of my days moving boxes and gathering things from home and Sarah's previous apartment. Also, for date night (this might sound lame) but we went to Cafe Rio and then I helped Sarah do the cleaning finishing touches of the room Sarah stayed at.
I also have been making food for Sarah and me. She made food for me too. I made a huge pot of my specialty: beef soup. We had to improvise on how to make it the first day because we didn't have a ladle. We have ton of left over utensils and Sarah was innovative about connecting some stuff and using them. We still have leftovers. Also, we've been really good at getting up early and reading our scriptures and praying. You'd be proud of me. I am actually coherent after a few prods to get up and turning off the alarm.
Which reminds me, for Christmas, I got a Google Home Mini, and we've been having lots of fun using it. Probably the biggest command we use is for it to play us music from Spotify. It's really nifty. Also, since we couldn't watch all the BYU Men's basketball games, we ask it for updates on the games. We only asked it about games they lost this week.
We didn't have WiFi for two days. So the world ended, obviously, for those two days. But I kept busy, for sure.
Our apartment feels like home now. We just got to organize all our junk...and then it'll be a home where a mom can walk in. We found a dresser and a tv stand at DI for $40, a steal. So we're doing really good here. Mom and Dad helped me pick up those items with the van. They were super quick to help, which was a blessing. You know how DI furniture is in and out of that place if you don't pick it up fast.
We had our first Fontana Stake Conference the past two days. Messages were shared about keeping the Sabbath day holy and using Family History as a missionary tool. Even Christina Parisi was asked to give a talk. I just can't believe that girl is 18, and soon she's going to go on a mission if all goes as planned. We sat next to the parents on Saturday and next to Sister Harris today. Sister Harris asked for a blessing at Sarah's suggestion because she had a cold. It was nice, because Tyler Hudrlik was there to anoint and me to seal the anointing. I felt good about the blessing, and Sister Harris was grateful.
Sarah's mom came over to bring some of Sarah's stuff and we offered her dinner. Of course, we used the soup and bread and butter. We had left over sherbet ice cream and some of the wedding cake from the wedding. We just sat and talked for a while.
All in all, good weeks.
Like always, I hope you are doing good, and if you have a minute, drop me and Sarah a line. We'd love to hear from you. I love you soooooo much.
Your brother,
John
