1/16 2nd/3rd Grade Combo and a the new 17th President of the Church

I've had a good day today.

Sarah helped me make a red wine vinegar sausage with sliced potatoes. We're going to eat after she is done talking to her mentor. We're also going to watch the new Middle episode, the farewell season.

I was at Grimes Elementary today, teaching Mrs. Cortez's 2nd/3rd grade combo. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the students were. The sub notes were detailed and at first I thought I wouldn't like teaching the class, because the class got a bit confusing during the time when both grades were in, but everything ran really smoothly.

One girl was singing Taylor Swift (her old stuff) while she was doing her work, I think her name was Arianna. She was singing "We Are Never Getting Back Together."

There was also an assembly today for a half hour. It was to promote a fundraiser that the school was putting on for the Ontario indoor soccer team. I learned that an indoor team had 6 players, a thing not one of the students could get right, and that they played in the Citizen's Bank Arena; let's just say that they couldn't get anything right. They didn't even humor us with the professional soccer player dribbling or juggling the soccer ball. That would've been nice.

Sarah wanted to get her face done in preparation for our Open House this Saturday, but the place she does it at doesn't do it after 5, which is the time she gets out of work.

Getting up this morning was super hard for me this morning. So much so that it weighed down on Sarah throughout the day. I mean, we did do everything we planned to do, like pray, read our scriptures, and sing, but I was not all there. I'm sorry I hurt Sarah. She's processing it the best she can. I think we are going to be okay.

Something crazy interesting that happened this morning is that the Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chose a new prophet today, and he chose two new counselors. The new 17th President of the church is President Russell M. Nelson, and his first counselor is Dallin H. Oaks and his second counselor is Henry B. Eyring. Historic. The third president I can remember in my lifetime.
