We got up super early this morning, like 5am, because Sarah had a mentoring appointment with someone at 6am. We did our routine: wake up, sing a hymn at random, read from the scriptures, and pray. Then, I went back to sleep for a while, until Sarah was done and I walked her to her car. Then I got up, took a shower and drove to Lewis, where I taught a 1st grade class, Mrs. Cary's.
When I got there, the office manager, Julie Barrios, asked me if I had a good vacation. Of course, I said yes, because I had gotten married. She congratulated me and asked where I had gotten married. I told her Redlands, and she asked if I was Mormon, which I said yes to. She then told me she was Mormon, too. I said really? And I asked her where she was from. She said Yucaipa, and I told her then she lived really close to the temple and that she must go there often. She said she didn't because she wasn't an active member. She told me that her parents had been married for about 60 years or so already. It also sounded like she was previously married but that something happened to her marriage. I mentioned that I knew another member that worked there. And that was the extent of our conversation. But during lunch, I sat by her and she had already told the member that I had gotten married and they (there were more teachers than her) congratulated me on the marriage.
I also saw the SDC aides today in passing during recess outside. The asked if I had gotten married and I showed them the ring and they were happy for me.
Also, kids from a male first grade teacher's class that I previously subbed for said hi to me.
The class that I taught today was really good. The day went by speedily. Two funny moments:
1. I was teaching the kids about what tales were and I asked them if they knew any tales. I mentioned Cinderella and Snow White and Beauty and the Beast. But then I mentioned Coco, the new Pixar movie that just came out, and they went wild for that "tale." They were all saying that this part made them cry and they were all in spoiler mode, but fortunately I stopped them.
2. Just randomly, in the middle of the last part of the day, the kids started singing. Not just singing anything, but Christmas music, haha. They even sang all 12 verses of The Twelve days of Christmas. I caught some of them on tape. They obviously all didn't know all the words, but one girl (I think her name was Valerie) prompted everyone on the verses. They sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and Santa Claus is coming to town. It was quite the spectacle to behold. I tried to incorporate as much music as possible because it makes the days fun. So we sang the Hokey Pokey and Once There was a Snowman and Popcorn Popping.
After work I got the money order of $950 for rent, and took it to Monica.
Sarah made a lentil something that I cooked and kinda burnt.
We went to Planet Fitness, where we were going to take a class, but it was cancelled. So we worked on the elliptical.
We watched The Goldbergs while eating the rest of our food in Nachos. The episode was funny.
Now we are very tired and will probably get up early tomorrow.
