10/31 Halloween and Stranger Things

Halloween, was actually pretty fun, for once, (not that previous Halloweens were that bad, but I had Halloween with a class that celebrated it). We carved pumpkins, four of them. They were Jack Skellington's face, his tie, Zero the dog, and Sally's face. It was really fun. I used my knife that I use for eating to cut the not so fine edges and Mrs. Ramos and Mrs. Yusef did the finer edges with a little electric knife. They turned out way nice and it was fun working with the kids to do it, including helping Freddie out with the knife on Jack's head.

Before school, I had a chat with Michael about cussing. We promised that he wouldn't cuss at all today and he was true to his word, as far as I could tell. Also, Mrs. Ramos made him not take out any balls, like that helped. In the morning the whole school paraded about in their costumes while parents onlooked. They even had a costume contest. Michael Jackson, the Leto Joker, and a Lego man won. What was really cool as well was that Mrs. Santos, Mrs. Williford, and Mr. Junio dressed up as golden sports trophies. It was actually quite creative.

There was only one hiccup in today's class. Pedro had a terrible melt down. He felt like everyone was against him so he took his How to Train a Dragon mask and banged it against everything until it was broken in smithereens. We called Dr. Jones and Mrs. Pedroza to come and talk to him, the principals. They came and after we had a better day with him.

At the end of the day we had a Halloween party in class. Parents brought chips and cupcakes and drinks, and we watched Nightmare Before Christmas. The end of the day was definitely a lot nicer. And it was good to have another aide with me to the end of the day, although, Mrs. Ramos was with us longer at the end.

I went to a block party with Sarah after she took Keke and Sharlaunna home. It was nice to eat some good food and get to know some of the people that she lives with on the block. Sarah dressed up as a runner and I followed suit, although, you couldn't see my shorts on top of my pants because it was dark blue on dark blue. Then we went to Barnes and Noble to watch an episode of Stranger Things on my request. Before she came I had downloaded an episode of the New season to watch. I guess I had told Sarah that I wouldn't watch without her. She wasn't upset, just a bit incredulous. It was good. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the season.

Good day.

10/30 Cussing and Chasing and FHE Halloween Party

Today was my first day on the long-term sub assignment for Mr. Martin's class SDC. The kids didn't really listen to me. They listened to Mrs. Ramos pretty good, but not to me. The teachers keep saying that as the days go by and they get more comfortable with me, they will listen to me more. But I still have to wait for the day. I mean, today was my first of 20. We were able to have a somewhat good day. I did my best to give discipline when they needed and not leave Mrs. Ramos hanging. I could probably be better to help Mrs. Ramos out. Mrs. Yusef wasn't there to help out today. So, the part that was the hardest was the last 15 minutes of the day when Mrs. Ramos leaves me all alone so she can go home. I honestly had no idea what to do with them for fifteen minutes. So, I took them outside for extra PE. Well, that was a bad idea. Biggest reason was, Michael, who is a very defiant little bludger/booger, kept on picking on Natan and saying every bad word in the book, cussing everybody out, and chasing kids while playing a bad version of tag. I bet if Mr. Martin left because of how a kid was acting and/or treating him, that the reason was because of Michael. Because he just does not listen at all and he's a little punk, excuse my language. The rest of the kids would have been fine if he wasn't there. And Richard is an instigator as well, that follows him around. So, anyways, I'll have to ask Mrs. Ramos for help in some way at the end of the day.

I helped Sarah set up for the FHE Halloween Party that the ward put on today. I brought out the bags that needed to be stapled for passing out this Saturday for the food drive. I also helped them get the cupboards opened and connected the music to the PA system. I did my best to help with everything else. Ate some cheese and pepperoni pizza from Little Caesars that Brother O'Neill brought, plus nachos and chips and cactus cooler soda.

After I ate, I was feeling a bit anxious and overwhelmed with things. So much so that Sarah took me out into the foyer and we sat and did breathing exercises, and then we walked around the church once, and she let me go to my car to pray and sort through some things.

After that, I came in, got some bags to distribute with Sarah, participated in the costume contest voting. Ryan Hiatt won. He was the boy from ET with a basket for ET to be in and a printout of ET's face. It was rather quite clever. I tried talking with Tyler, and he said that I am soft-spoken. He was talking about watching movies that are Rated-R with oceanliners in them. I told him he shouldn't.

While Sarah and I were outside, sister Pam Peterson drove up with morgan to pick up Cat. She offered to provide a photo booth at our wedding as a gift from her to us, which is really nice of her.

Sarah was wondering what she could do for me to help me. Bishop walked in on us sitting in the Foyer and asked what was wrong. I told him. And he was really surprised that I experience anxiousness because he had never seen me act this way. Later, at Sarah's request, he asked me if I wanted a blessing. I said sure, but then remembered that I could ask my dad for a blessing, so I politely declined his invitation, and got a blessing from dad when I got home. It was good.

10/29 Letter #41 and response...I forgot to write in my journal yesterday, can you believe it?

Dear Jacob,

I'm doing really good. Every day inches closer and closer to my marriage with Sarah. Sometimes I can't even believe it. It is just so surreal at times. Really, really surreal. But it is nice to think that I am paired off with someone that loves me and that I love. We're going to have so much fun together, I can already tell. We got our marriage license on Thursday...so it really is official. We are working on the details of our honeymoon, which is only going to be that Saturday the 30th of December after the reception, Sunday and Monday. She's working right after that. She recently got a job at Monoprice, which is a company that sales electronic items. She is working the phones for customer service. She has experience doing that.

Other big news is I got a long-term Sub assignment at Jurupa Vista. Starting tomorrow I am in a week trial of being with the older SDC classroom, but this job (if I accept it for the full term) will go until December 4th, Monday. Can you believe it? I will have a job for all of November! Think of all the money I will make, no days off, but vacation days. So it is great. I, at first was weary, because you know the trouble I go through teaching the same class over and over again. That and I didn't know if I would have to do the lesson plans. Well, the first one I will know after the first week, and the second is already taken care of by the aides that are in the class. So, it should be great, I'm sure. Anyways, you can probably tell I'm excited at the prospect. I truly am. Kinda nervous, but they will probably dissipate with time.

I was so tired yesterday after the game and going out to eat at La Bufa. I'll probably send you the highlights from this game. Mom told me that she told you about El Bakri's hit that totally took a guy out. That'll be the first highlight video I share, Along with the sound, because it was just totally great. Mom and I were like WOAH! (I hope Targeting doesn't get called, haha), which it didn't. I'll also send you the invitation we are printing out on photo paper. The game was great, because we won. We have little chance to win the next few games, which is required to get a bowl game, but one can only dream right? There's always next year.

You've probably heard that the World Series is going on right now: LA Dodgers against the Astros, Houston is where they are from, I think. Anyways, I hear about it a lot at work. They had a long game tonight that went to like 10 or so innings. Of course, almost all of the people at the work want the Dodgers to win. I could care less, but it's fun to hear about these games. Dodgers lost though, tonight. So it's 3-2 in favor of the Astros.

Anyways, thanks for all you do. I LOVE YOU. I hope you know that! Keep doing what you are doing. You probably killed it in your talk like you always do.

10/27 I'm an Uncle and SDC Long-terming

I'M GOING TO BE AN UNCLE, FOR REALS!!! Briana called me today while I was out with Sarah and gave us the great news. She is four weeks pregnant and is due the first week of July, around the fourth. This is just awesome!

Coupled with: I took the long-term sub assignment at Jurupa Vista today. I called in early. She said I could use this week as a trial week and if I feel fine afterwards, then good, I can do it. This job will go to the 4th of December, exactly 20 days starting Monday. Since there is a holiday week in November, those days don't count.

I actually was at Jurupa Vista today roving. The power went out for about an hour or so in the morning. We were all hoping a cancellation of school would happen, but no, it was just the workers and they told us it would come back on.

I was in Mrs. Raymondo's class for the first few minutes, followed by Mrs. Williford's 4th grade class. Then I helped in the SDC class that I will be long-terming. It was a mess. But I still feel good about signing on.

Sarah came around 7 and we went to Wing Stop, but I don't think she was impressed. We got garlic Parmesan and Hawaiian. Then we headed to the Lewis Library, but it was closed at 6. So we drove home and watched two episodes of Stranger Things (so now we are on episode 5 of 8 so half way there, and the new season came out today, but I'm going to wait). We also made out for a while.

Good day.

10/26 Marriage License and Long-term Sub Job Inquiring

We got our marriage license today. It cost $89 plus a $2.50 fee for using a debit card. It was actually pretty easy. All we needed were our IDs and to fill out a form that we had already filled out prior. And fortunately, Sarah had already know what she wanted her name to be after marriage: Sarah Rebecca Gonzales. The lady that helped us was very nice and funny. As we were walking out, we noticed a couple in clothes to get married and Sarah told them congrats (because they also did marriages right there and then (probably for an extra fee, I'm sure).

We then went to Office Max to check out how much it would cost to print out invitations, but decided not to go with them because they were relatively expensive. We then went to Aldi and picked up a banana and yogurt because were hungry. Then we decided in the car to go with an invitation made by Vista Print, but they have smaller dimensions than 4x6. It was actually 4x5.5. So we decided to go to the Rancho Library on Archibald, but the internet (frustratingly) was not working. I was getting really frustrated. So we decided to stop doing that and Sarah took me to the Monoprice electronic store. Which got me less frustrated.

We then had dinner with the missionaries, after we watched the episode (How Your Mother Met Me) of HIMYM. We went to Senor Baja. It was pretty good, we got the family pack, which was $30 total and included 12 tacos, rice, beans, and chips. The company was fun, except Chris was all the way in Pomona so he couldn't come. However, he did make it to Institute. Brother Trask was actually not there though. Sharon Torres Hudrlik made it to the end and was kinda really stand-offish towards me and Sarah. Oh well. I played ping pong against a guy named Waka, and then against Sarah. Afterwards, I was very anxious. I was still getting over it when we drove home. Sarah was nice and helped relax me a bit.

I got a call that I didn't answer from Colton School District. Valerie MacDougall left me a message saying that she was offering me a long term sub job at Jurupa Vista for Mr. Martin SDC. I have been wrestling about whether or not I should actually take the job. I had to call mom and tell her and talk to dad this evening. I decided that if the job is still available tomorrow, that I will most likely take it. It'd be good for my resume, and also for my interview that is next Thursday. I still have a couple of questions, but overall, I'm happy about the whole situation.

10/25 Wedding Invitations Finalizing and Murder Mystery Middle

We got our invitations all designed! It was a lot of pulling teeth about certain tastes of font choices and picture choices, but I think it turned out really good:

It's been an okay day today. The first half of my day with some second graders was a whole lot crazier than the second half, ironically. I had complaints about name calling, bad word using, and mean looks throwing and some threatening with fists. Those kids, though. After lunch, we got more done than before, so.

I then went with Sarah, after work, after she had dropped off her coworkers at her house and we worked on the invitations. It took us until close of library, so about and hour and a half to two hours. Then we drove home, sat on our porch because the sprinklers had been on and watched the new Middle, which was a funny Halloween one, murder mystery.

Fun day.

10/24 Crazy subbing and Quiche Sister dinner

Okay, work was crazy...even when I was at Jurupa Vista. Part of it was because I barely took this job yesterday evening. So Ms. Litchford only had printed plans at the front desk. Nothing was really prepared except small activities in the textbook. The story she had the kids reading was a poem. How can someone glean so much from a poem. I think she thought that she was giving me a story to read, but in the end, it turned out to be nothing but a poem. So, we read three poems, and then I showed them several episodes from Magic School Bus...one theme based on flying planes. Not to mention, I had to team teach two classes with Mrs. Martin. She was also having a so-so day today, since Mrs. Litchford was out of class yesterday and hadn't told Mrs. Martin why. I was happy when the day was over because those kids were just so noisy. And I didn't even mention that 4th grade got split up, so I had six extra kids to take care of and who, fortunately, had chromebooks, because I wasn't about to spend time figuring things out to do. I only feel bad that I didn't pay much attention to them. They don't deserve that.

Sarah had the missionaries over. What's great about her is that she made the Quiche during her lunch break. She cam back home and made the quiche then. She also invited 2 girls from work, Kiki and Shalara. The sisters, Sister Fausitt and Child ate with us as well. We had a nice meal prepared by my lovely fiancee, Sarah. I went to buy tortilla chips, at Sarah's request, and we ate it with Mango/Peach Salsa from Shaunna's fridge. It was super duper good. Then the sisters shared the Restoration lesson with us. They had me read Joseph Smith's First Vision, which I thought was appropriate. It was a super nice touch. The two women, both African American just ate it up. And when we brought out the Book of Mormon, they willingly and surprisingly took it. They had been prepared for it, actually. And on the ride back to their house, I explained to them the book of Mormon, because the sisters had to leave quickly before finishing their lesson. It was pretty cool.

Tomorrow, Sarah and I are going to finalize are invitations at the library. She's not going to go to a Relief Society activity. Hopefully we get done before then so she can go.

10/23 Where's Waldo FHE and Temple Recommend interview

I was at Jurupa Vista today in Mrs. Rodriguez's second grade class. The day went by without a really big hitch, so I was grateful.

Then I went with mom to the grocery store to buy food and lunch items, because we were running low.

Then I helped mom cut chicken and wash dishes so she could make some noodles with chicken based sauce that had cream in it. It was very good.

Then we did Where's Waldo at Victoria Gardens for Family Home Evening. It was tons of walking and I felt a bit anxious afterward. I was in a group of four. We had to find the bishopric and their wives in Victoria Gardens. Our group got half of them. Brother Harris was by the library, Sister Harris was at the top of the key, and Bishop was by water and JCPenney. We couldn't find the O'Neill's, nor sister Ellsworth. They told us we passed by them several times. Brother O'Neill looked hilarious in a nice wig. It was super hot outside tonight. Definitely not a fall like night. More like summer.

I got my temple recommend interview tonight and it has been renewed, or at least it will be when I see the Stake Presidency either this or next week. It is great talking with Bishop and he makes me feel so good. Sarah makes me feel good too.

Letter #40 and response

Hey Jacob!

So, it's almost november. I bet it is cooling down in Pennsylvania. Here on the other hand has been really hot. Just Friday was a cool day, cool enough for it to make me regret not having a jacket. I worked every day except Tuesday, because on Tuesday I had a job interview for a librarian position at Grant Elementary. I do not thing I'm going to get it, but who knows. There is however a job position that I applied for recently that I really want. It has to do with working as an Aide of sorts in different special ed classrooms. I've only been in SDC at Jurupa Vista, Sycamore Hills, Grimes, and Lewis, but for the most part, I do enjoy it when I'm with those kids and the other aides. I am most likely going to get interviewed for the job before December comes...which will be great. I really do want it. It pays like $18 an hour and it has benefits as well. So, all good stuff.

Nothing too crazy happened this week. We spent a good long time talking and planning our wedding reception for the 30th of December. We're having it at the Juniper building. Instead of at night, we moved it to the afternoon, right after the sealing. The biggest thing that was nixed was the idea of hanging things from the strings from the ceilings. But it should be very nice, and it won't cost too much, at least we hope. The honeymoon is going to be short because Sarah just got a job that'll require her to go back to work after New Year's Day. We're still deciding what to do for the honeymoon, and we still have no place to live. Obviously we will still be in Cali since both of us still have jobs here. We talked about moving to Arizona (you know, my dream, haha) but we will for sure move out of fontana. We've talked Redlands and Rialto, so we'll see what gets chosen. We're getting our Marriage license on Thursday at the San Bernardino Recorder's office on Hospitality Lane. So, big things are in motion here.

Sarah and I are going to feed the missionaries twice this week. On Tuesday, Sarah is having the Sisters over for food that she's going to cook at Shaunna's house (where Sarah now lives) (an LDS home). And then I'll probably take the Elders on Thursday to a place here in Rancho called Senor Baja. It has really good fish burritos and carne asada burritos. Plus, and this might make you laugh, but the missionaries in my ward were banned to come to Fontana because it was out of the mission boundaries, you know, because Fontana is in the Redlands mission boundaries.

We went to a Latin Festival at the Stake Center after we were done discussing the wedding. So, we totally missed the game. We totally fell 33-17. Not so fun. This is just not our year. People are really pessimistic on twitter and social media.

The Latin Festival was okay, because they had some interesting foods. We saw and met the Hansens. Lucy, Jesus and Melaney came. We said hi to missionaries there.

Other than that, just work work work it seems. My Wednesday was horrible, because the sub manager assigned me to a first grade class that went wacky at the end of the day. I was actually assigned RSP. Anyways, at the end of the day, I had to stay back for a kid that left their lunch pail and the whole class left without me. Fortunately there was a teacher keeping her eye on things and even though it was chaotic, we handled it. I was feeling somewhat, well, actually a lot anxious. I just wanted to get out of there and never return. But I got through it.

It's good to hear that you are doing better. Take care of yourself, bro. I love you lots.

John

10/22 Insurance in Self-reliance and Homeward Bound in Sacrament

I learned a lot about insurance today in our self-reliance class. I learned about my health insurance and that I pay a Premium of $136 or so and that I have no idea about my health insurance's deductible. We had a class of 4; me, Sarah, Axel Falcon, and Gail Schaefer.

The rest of the day, except for bishopric meeting, I was pretty tired. I spent sacrament meeting reading about today's self-reliance class. Sarah was pretty angry that Celeste still chose to do the song Homeward Bound in sacrament because it has nothing to do with Jesus Christ or Heavenly Father. She chose not to sing for choir today so there were absolutely no Altos today. I kept texting her when we changed to Christmas music, but she was out in her car sulking. So, when choir was finished, I went out to her car and told her I expected her in the chapel for Sacrament meeting. She changed her attitude and came in.

I spent the evening with her in her car watching The West Wing after our class was done. She asked for a blessing because she was still angry that my dad had refused to let her stay in the house and that Dad was establishing his dominance. I just finally had to put my foot down and tell her that she should stop talking about it because talking about it out loud was getting her even more angry, even after the blessing.

Interesting evening.

10/21 Reception planning lunch and House stealing concerns

Pretty good day.

Sarah came over for lunch and a conversation about how our wedding should be with my parents that lasted for a long time because we needed to get every detail in place beforehand. I'll have to take pictures of the stuff we came up with.

We then went to a latin festival where Sarah met some of my ward members while also enjoying the Hispanic food. We had a good chat with Will Hansen and Kini Hansen.

Then we got home, asked dad if we could watch Spider-man Homecoming. Enjoyed ourselves immensely until dad kicked us out of the house.

Then I had a nice chat with Sarah about my going to school insecurities and she promised me she would help me out with that, including recommending that I receive coaching from her friend Jayden.

Then I came back home to a house in tension. Dad was mad that we had Sarah over so late watching movies and in all, said that he doesn't want Sarah over after 7pm, ever, because he doesn't feel like he can do anything in his own house. I then said we could pray and that started a whole 'nother argument between mom and dad because mom didn't feel like praying, so...

And I got a bill for $500 that caused me to hyperventilate. I'm pretty sure that it is from the time I went to Arrowhead to get my blood work done and they wouldn't take my insurance so I got the State card. I thought that it payed for itself. Sarah says I can ask my insurance to cover it. I hope she's right because I don't have that much money to take out of my account.

Sarah and I had a nice long phone conversation and so now it is 2am. She also wrote me a super long email early this morning.

We didn't watch the East Carolina game that we should have won, bummer that we lost 33-17.

10/20 Game night at Cara's and Freaking out

We brought Chris Michael Acosta to a game night at Cara Clonts' house tonight. Noel, Ben, Robin, another guy and Greg Obi made it. We first played Charades. My word was Sarah's pick: Minority Report and Sarah took over the clue giving. She did good, though. Actually, before Charades we played a question and answer game and I didn't sit next to Sarah, which she let me know of. Then, after charades, we played a sit on a person in the circle game and try to figure out who is giving the suggested animal noises. I went first and after 2 guesses got Greg. Chris decided to take a long time in the bathroom, because he was squeamish about having someone sit on him I also accidentally got Cara to say the H-word because I tried to guide her to Noel. It really scared her and she also said Freak. We then decided to go before 9:30. We took Chris home, then I drove Sarah to her house, where we watched the first few minutes of Spider-man Homecoming. Then kissed.

We went to Apple One, Joann's, Chick-fil-a for date night, and then Staples to pick up colored paper to make paper snowflakes with. Unfortunately, we got the wrong type of paper. I didn't want to go to building cleaning tomorrow, so I can get some sleep in. Maybe next week, since it is the last week of the month.

SDC at Lewis was great. I had an awesome time. Gordo made it and the kids and aide, Mrs. Bonnie and Wendy were happy to see me. We had breakfast in class, because the cafeteria was having an assembly. I helped Patsey swing. Good day.

10/19 RSP to 1st Grade and Braden is home

Well, I was suppose to do RSP but they were short subs at Grimes today so they made me do Mrs. Buetos class first grade. I haven't really been wanting to do first grade these days unless I have to. The day started okay, but it got noisier and harder to control as the day progressed. The hardest and most anxiety ridden part of the day was when we were about to leave for the end of the day, and I let all the kids in a line go outside. One girl forgot something and I had to stay back. Well, the whole class decided to go without my permission to the gate outside. By the time I got back, the other first grade teacher was boggled down with her students and my students as well. Well, that got me feeling really anxious and it was hard to be present in the moment, and especially when I had to write down a note about what happened and when I left in my car for home. I was still a bit anxious when I got home so I went to lie down for a bit. When Mom came upstairs to tell me some news, I was doing fine.

Sister Knudsen reached out to mom in text today about Braden. He's been honorably discharged from missionary service and diagnosed with depression. He's home now in New York with Pres. and Sister Knudsen. I can only imagine how he's feeling right now. It shook up dad pretty bad. Sis. Knudsen wanted to understand how mom was feeling when I returned home. Mom let her know and also gave her some of the news about Jacob and how he's been feeling. It's pretty crazy how much I relate to different people, even without them knowing about it.

I went with Mom to El Pollo Loco. We ate and watched The Middle. Then I left for my Stake Priesthood Meeting. After the meeting, which was really good, I gave Brother Harris a ride home and then I went to see Sarah. We talked about her day and prayed. I expressed my concern that she went through someone else (Sarah Mable Jensen) to buy the ornaments instead of me. I also was concerned that she bought some without consulting my parents. But, it will be alright. She is her own person, and she doesn't need my permission for everything she does, and I do love her.

Took out the trash, and now I'm going to finish watching DC Legends of Tomorrow.

10/18 K1 Johnny Socker and Wedding plans

I got punched with a kindergartner's fist today in the chin by a boy with my same name: Johnny. To make a long story short, I was roving at Jurupa Vista today and they had me help a sub in Mrs. Shumate's class because she was not there. I was there to help a sub out until 10:25am. She had me go to Mrs. Towne's class to pick up two of her boys while she picked up the rest of the class. Well, right when I get there and greet the two boys, one (Johnny) pouts and grimaces at me and goes grr. How's that to start off the day. Well, on the carpet, he didn't get his turn so he starts screaming as he sat down. Then, after he got his turn, he doesn't put the pointer back where it is suppose to be and starts walking around the class. I follow him to make sure he doesn't leave. I get close to him, and when I am close, he makes a fist and socks me in the chin/jaw. Well, I took him over to Mrs. Towne and she calmed him down with do you understand me and look at me's. After that he was doing okay, in that he was looking at some books during center time. Man, that kid was a mess.

I did Mrs. Parlapiano's class for about an hour. Then I had lunch and found out that the other class already had a sub so Veronica told me to wait in the lounge. She forgot about me so at 2pm I went home. I talked to Mr. Julio for the first time today. He's a really nice guy and makes a mean lemon bar pie.

I watched the newest episode of the Flash today. I should've and could've watched Legends of Tomorrow, but didn't.

Then, after Mom and Dad got home, I left for the Lewis Library to be with Sarah. We watched the newest Middle and discussed wedding plans. We also called Sabina about making cookies and the logistics of accomplishing such a task. We also decided to move the reception up to 3pm and lunch potluck at 1pm. Also, I called the San Bernardino recorder to see when we could get the marriage license. Sarah's going to get off at 1pm next thursday and we are going to do a walk in before they close at 4.

So, good things coming.

Oh, and also, our honeymoon is being shortened to Dec 30, 31, and Monday January 1. So, only 3 days, but that's okay with me. Sarah was kinda displeased, but she got over it.

10/17 Librarian interview and Sizzler Water Spill

Well, I had my librarian technician at Grant Elementary job interview today with the principal  and two other woman. They asked me five questions, and then one of the other ladies came up with an experience 6th question. This was different from the questions I was asked at Wilson. They had ten different questions to answer. The sixth questions was if I had any experience working a library program that was about checking out books and stuff. I, of course, said no. Honestly, I am not getting my hopes up. If I get it, I get it. But I understand that sometimes it just doesn't happen. Hopefully I'll get the SDC job, actually.

I went straight to Target to get Spider-man Homecoming which came out today. Watched some of it along with read my scriptures about Abinadi and listened to a conference talk.

Mom and Dad took me to Sizzler for dinner where I got a 6 oz. Sirloin Steak and some fries and Malibu sauce. I accidentally spilled a whole glass of water on my lap so it looked like I wet myself. Mom made a list of six questions she had about the wedding for Sarah to answer on Saturday when we get together for lunch.

I drove to the church to meet up with Sarah and she was so happy that I did. I talked to Brother Harris while I waited for her FHE committee meeting to end. Then we drove to McDonald's by Victoria Gardens and talked about things before we did our farewell.

10/16 Kinder Roving and Coaching the Coach

I have a job interview tomorrow at the school that I was at today: Ulysses S. Grant Elementary. I think I made a good impression on Mrs. Salazar, the sub manager (if she was okay with me leaving after everything was done). I couldn't find her, and since everything on the list was done, I took the liberty of leaving an hour earlier. Hopefully that won't come back to bite me tomorrow. I was roving and I was with kindergartners all day. They are hard to handle because they require a lot, and I mean, a lot of happy energy. You can't get too mad at a kindergartner, and if you do, you gotta catch yourself because these precious children can barely tell you the alphabet. Fortunately, I was never in a classroom for too long. I got to meet Mrs. Gutierrez, a nice kinder teacher.

I got home and watched the first episode of the 6th season of Arrow. Then I took a nap after I made myself a hamburger. Then Mom and Dad came home from their trip and I helped them out. Right before they came home, Chris Santos from my ward asked me if I could give the lesson on service, since we were doing a service activity tonight. I wanted to say no, but I didn't. So I spent most of my time writing my ideas for the lesson. I also spent less than an hour cutting my hair, which went really well.

The lesson went great. It was the first lesson that Sarah had ever heard me give and she said I did a good job. I also got a good job from Brother Kirtley and Sister Harris. I wanted Chris Michael Acosta to be there but he came later. Hey, but at least he came. Sarah then led the service activity that we were doing, I helped tie fleece blankets. There was also a greeting card booth and a tiara making booth. She got all this from a sister that lives on Gettysburg.

We then had a chat with the bishop, our monthly chat. It went really well. Bishop Ellsworth is just great. Sarah was concerned with how much affection we shared yesterday, but I didn't feel bad about it. I just figured it's good that she feels this way because it stops us from doing something rash. We then drove to Shaunna's house and talked on her front porch. Sarah was trying to convince me that she needs a life coach to uncover the blocks she has about life coaching and start her business out right. It's going to cost $250 every month. We talked about it and we prayed about it, and I didn't find a reason why it would be bad, except for the cost and us saving money. She's going to do it, so hopefully it'll be for the best.

Also, mom talked to me about her concerns about what we are doing for the wedding. She wants Sarah, Me, Dad and her to meet up this week to discuss those things. I hope it all goes well.

10/15 Letter #39 and response

Hey Jacob!

How are you doing these days?

Mom and Dad have been gone since Friday morning and won't get back until tomorrow afternoon. They went up for a Palmer Family reunion. As I suspect, all of mom's siblings were there so it was a great turn out. Cousins, on the other hand, had places to be. I was working and so was Sarah and Briana was in Idaho doing what she does. The pictures are nice. I'll try to remember to send you some.

My weekend was super busy. First, on Friday I went to Anaheim with Sarah to go visit her friend Anthony Armstrong who was down for the weekend. This is the same Anthony football player in Meet the Mormons. He took us out to a Chicken and Waffle place called Roscoes, and then we went to the beach to see the sunset. It was really fun, plus we took a lot of nice pictures. I will for sure send you some. Afterwards, at 9pm we went to the Rancho Dance with Chris (my friend from Walmart). He was having some fun getting to know people, plus he wants to join us on some other activities throughout next week, like FHE. He really wants to meet a girl and start that next phase in his life. (DON'T WE ALL, right Jacob). Just to let you know, I experience anxiety a lot throughout my week. It usually happens when I exert myself and there are loud noises and it's dark and there is a crowd of people. When that happens, things get exemplified, I feel like people are scrutinizing my every movement, etc. Lights get blurrier, etc. I usually have to calm down on the ride home, or do some breathing exercises. This is how I feel, even with all the medicine I take. I use to feel this way right at the end of work, but more recently, I've been able to control my thoughts and not get so worried at the end of the day. There are THOSE days every once in a while, so, I just gotta endure it to the bitter end.

My self-reliance class is going good, but it seems each week we dwindle in numbers more and more. Today we only had 4 in the class including me. The class has been super helpful, though. We are learning about budgeting and believe me, it is stuff I need to hear in my life right now, as I prepare for marriage with Sarah Rebecca. It makes for very long sundays, though. I mean, I have two hours worth of meetings, then choir, then 3 hours of church, a one hour break where I eat food that is served in church, or food that I bring from home, and then 2 hours (well, they've been less) of self reliance. So yeah, long days.

Work has been good. I told the SDC aides at Lewis about my engagement and they were so happy for me. OH, I have a librarian job interview at Grant Elementary on Tuesday. I also applied for an SDC aide job where I go to different schools and help out. It would come with benefits, so I hope they contact me.

The BYU football game was against Mississippi State. It was on SEC Network, which nobody apparently has. So I listened to it on my way down to Torrance. Of course, we did poorly. But listening to the time Ganwoloku got an interception was great. However, Tolotau had a fumble, recovered by the defense soon after. I missed most of the second half. We did get one touchdown, though. not very nice results.

Other than that, not too much else to report on. It's been nice being home alone. However, I've been gone most of the time I've been home alone, so, hmmmmm...just spending all my time with my fiancee.

Anyways, I hope you are doing good. I haven't heard the reports since mom and dad have been gone. I hope your headaches and anxiety are subsiding and that you are feeling normal again. I love you and wish you all the best in the world.

Love,
John

10/14 Torrance II and Wedding FB Invites

Today was good. It was full. And it is too late to go into specific details, but here is a list in brevity.

We went to building cleaning. Cleaned some windows and then ate glazed bars.

Drove to Sarah's Torrance home and spent our time:

Collecting names of people Sarah meant to invite.
I filled out a job application for a special education job.
Napped a bit on the couch.
Ate an interesting but good sandwich from Lee's with Sarah and her Mom Helen.
Made a questionnaire for people to fill out.
Then made our invites to people on Facebook (totaling about 600 people).
Ate ham sandwiches and baked beans that Lisa made.

Then the four of us went to go visit Uncle Ken. Sarah got very animated when he mentioned the girl he is emailing, and for good reason. Left.

Went to In n Out for a sandwich.

Then I gave Sarah a blessing.

Good day.

10/13 Friday the 13th FUN

Today's been pretty great. I had my sub assignment changed 3 times today in like 10 minutes. First to sixth grade, second to Mr. Lieu's 5th grade class, and lastly to Mrs. Ramirez's 2nd grade class, plus six students from Mrs. Altherr's class. I originally had Mrs. Altherr's class. The day was fine, even with six extra students. Nothing too crazy happened.

Sarah picked me up and we went to Apple One so Sarah could get direct deposit to her new Chase account she opened today.

Then we traveled to Anaheim to go to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, which was exactly what we got and Anthony Armstrong paid for us. We had a fun time there talking, then we went to the beach and took several pictures as the sun set.

After that we went to the dance in Rancho with Chris Michael Acosta. He was really happy to come and will probably come to FHE.

I would write more, but it is past 12 and I have to get up early tomorrow morning because Sarah and I are going to clean the church, and also we are going to Torrance.

10/12 Lewis SDC and Mom condolences

I was at Lewis Elementary today. Mrs. Reyes' SDC class. I was with friends: Mrs Bonnie and Wendy. This morning I told them that I am getting married, and Bonnie was like, I don't know you that well, but when you said you had good news, I thought, for sure he's getting married. It was an easy day, because they have really good structure to their day, plus it was minimum day as well. The only hard part was when Zarrick had a melt down about going to PE after he said that he would go. I really enjoy being in Bonnie and Wendy's presence. They are good women.

Other than that, it's been a pretty laid back day. I was graced with a call from Sarah my sister this afternoon. At first, I thought it was like most calls and she wanted to know something, but no, it was mostly a call to see how I'm doing and give advice about wedding planning. Some good advice, and some warnings about not going into debt because of a wedding. But I was super excited to talk to my sister for about 40 minutes.

I went on a Miguel's run for Mom. Asked her if I could buy a burrito for Sarah Rebecca. She said yes. Got our usual and sat and ate with Dad.

Then I went to pick up Sarah from Shaunna's house. I gave Shaunna my condolences and wished her the best with her mom that has Dementia. I told her about my experiences with my grandpa and she took it to heart. We didn't get to institute in time for me to give my spiritual thought. In fact, Brother Trask was giving the spiritual thought. Oh well, I apologized to Greg Obi afterwards. Institute was good. Sarah had several comments up her sleeve.

I drove her home and we kissed goodnight, so she could have a session with one of her clients. We're going to pray soon.

Mom woke me this morning to tell me that they are going to travel to Hurricane tomorrow morning, instead of today when they got home.

10/11 Room Cleaning and Member Dunking

I had a good day today. I was in Mrs. Raymondo's class today up until about 11am, because Mrs. Raymondo came back from her meeting. I was saved just in time because the principal, Dr. Jones was in to watch a new boy named Jayden, and he was in my group right when she came in to watch him. Then Mrs. Raymondo took over and I went next door to Mr. Martin's SDC class and helped out in there until 1 when I was scheduled to leave. My last thirty minutes were spent at Lunch. I did the three groups in the class before. Then, in Mr. Martin's class, I helped with some math work. I really felt useful when I helped two kids finish their math work.

I walked home, but got picked up by Sarah and I helped her clean her room and pack the last of her stuff and clean her room. We brought a broom from my house to sweep her room, and then we used wipes to wipe down her tile. I was down on my hands and knees wiping the tile. I was sweating a bit profusely. But we got it done. Kimberly said it looked good, so we are getting the deposit within the next three weeks. Lucky for us, Shaunna doesn't care if we pay her the whole thing in the next couple of days.

Sarah got a job at a call center, can't remember the name right now, but it specializes in selling cheaper electronic items, including projectors. Sarah wanted to let me know that, in case we wanted to buy one. She's also working the next three days doing merchandising and things. So, we're probably not going to Torrance on Saturday.

I got four names from Dad's line and did baptisms and confirmations for them. I actually did the baptizing. The only weird thing that happen was when Annie Howe's scrunchy fell off her hair and sunk to the bottom of the baptismal font. She picked it up with her feet. Sarah did my three girl names. I almost forgot her last name for a sec. Diego Salas was extremely pleased to do Olegario Leon Romero for me because he saw that the name came from Peru. It made him giddy. Fortunately, Louie did not trip on his way into the font, like last time. It was hard to dunk him this time though. I got Alorn's last name wrong, which is Anderson, not Braby. Louie and Tyler took forever getting redressed. I beat them both to the confirmation room. Louie was in my stall, so I was outside half-naked waiting to be let into my stall. Diego wanted to go somewhere else besides In n Out. He even said he is thinking about catering our next event. I don't think it's going to happen though.

We sat next to Hailey Daker and Brianna Trost at In n Out. Hailey and I were able to talk about different things. Sarah even wondered if we had some connection, and I told her we did (two dates). I think I made Sarah sad when I told her that I didn't like taking advantage of the church's funds for expensive food at In n Out. She didn't get Animal Style Fries, but she did get a Strawberry shake and I think she still got a Double-Double. I beat her eating the burger, but she beat me everywhere else, which was pointed out by Hailey.

Tomorrow, Mom and Dad leave for Hurricane for the Palmer Family Reunion.

Two more days.

10/10 Repichaje and Suspenders

It was nice to sleep in a bit today again. When I got up, I took a shower, ate a croissant sandwich for breakfast, and read my scriptures. Then I picked up Sarah and we went to the church distribution store and I picked up $9 suspenders. Then we toured the Ensign books. I was trying to gauge if there was anything that Sarah liked that I could get her for Christmas, but it was almost in vain. She pointed out some books to me, and she liked a particular figurine section than another, but other than that, I got nothing. It's okay, because Christmas is still a while from now.

We then went to the Rancho Cucamonga public library and had a family council that lasted the two hours we could stay in the study room. It was super helpful and good to have done that, because we discussed preparations for wedding day. We discussed that she really wants good wedding pictures. She mentioned someone she knows but after looking at all her pictures, we decided to probably go with Sarah Martz. She liked her engagement pictures a lot. We made a mission statement and how we were going to accomplish the tasks. We also planned out our week, which took a while.

We waited for Shaunna Lee's mail but decided to go. Then we went to Creamistry and I got a scoop of Birthday cake ice cream and she got black cherry ice cream. They both were very good. We watched Dark Lord Funk parody and Key and Peele dubstep video.

Then I went home and watched the Peru vs Colombia game with Dad, Mom, Lucy and Jesus. It was looking bleak when we were down 1-0. But then we got a free kick and it deflected of a Colombian player into the goal, and all was well. We tied them for the final score and so Peru is in repichaje, which means we don't automatically go to the world cup but then have to play (in this case) New Zealand to finally qualify. So they play two more games against them and then if we win, we get qualified for the World Cup, so those that made it were Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and I can't remember the fourth, and we were fifth for the repichaje. So it is more likely that Peru will make it into the world cup this time around. They didn't play at all in the last minute and a half of play because they knew they practically made it. It disappointed me and I agreed with Jesus that they should have fought to the end. I was the tv technician for the day. Switching between Youtube and CMD deportes. We finally just stuck with the latter, even though it would hiccup every now and again, and the picture would freeze. But in the end, it stayed pretty consistent. We stopped watching off Youtube because the thing got copyrighted off.

We went out to Viva Villa to celebrate. It was crazy, because there was no one there. We finally decided because it was also Mexico's gameday against Honduras at the time we got there. They lost 3-2, but I'm unsure what that means for Mexico's chances to get into the World Cup. But after that game was done, Viva Villa had more business. We ate tortas there with beans and orange soda.

I asked Dad if Sarah could come over and watch The Middle with me. At first he was against the idea. But then he said he needed to get some stuff for his La Vida es un Carnival class tomorrow. So Sarah came, and it was a good thing we went over so much stuff this afternoon because we got grilled about it. Also, Brother Gustafson called Sarah back about the stake center building being used for December 30 by the Rich's. So we are going to have to settle for the Juniper Building. Mom was super happy about that because she didn't want to have to drive all that way.

I walked Sarah home, a little bit dazed and anxious from our conversation with Mom and Dad. The Middle was great. Kissed her goodnight and prayed with her at the door.

Tried on my suspenders. They seem to work well.

10/9 Pre-moving day and the Amazing Race II

Sarah and I had planned to move her stuff to her new room in Rancho Cucamonga. But we had planned for me to do as my parents wished and mow the lawn. So when I got up this morning after sleeping soundly, I did just that, mow the lawn. I had to pray so that the lawn mower would work. It wasn't working after like 20 or so breath stealing tries. Then, after I had prayed, it worked without argument.  That took about an hour in a lot of wind. I was listening to the conference talks that I had missed: Saturday afternoon session. Then after I finished that, I took a shower and went to Sarah's place.

We packed up two cars worth of stuff. I bought her a tankful of gas for about $40. Then we drove the stuff to Shaunna's house. Then we unloaded both cars. Sarah's foot was starting to hurt so I did most of everything. It was all pretty quick. Sarah had put in a load of laundry. Her foot was hurting because her room was upstairs and we had to move the stuff up there. It definitely took a shorter amount of time than moving her stuff into Kimberly's house, because most of the stuff was already organized into boxes or nice sections.

We were hungry, so we went to Senor Baja for burritos. Then after, I left her to tend to her stuff. I went home and folded my clothes. I waited for mom to come home after I read my scriptures.

We went to Nogales Burgers for dinner. Mom spent the time before watching the newest episode of Madame Secretary. As we ate, we watched The Middle. Then I went to FHE with Sarah, which was The Amazing Race. Sarah taught a stellar lesson about the joys of repentance. Then she asked if I could go with her and stand as a clue giver for the race. We stood at Walmart to give the clue to take a picture sword fighting with play swords. There were three groups of people. It was pretty fun. After the three groups were finished at Walmart, I stood in line with Sarah to help her get some money function. Because I stood outside with Sarah, they gave me a Creamistry gift card for my work, so now I have two.

On the drive home, Shaunna Lee, Sarah's new landlord called to tell her that she was planning on being in Utah for 4-6 weeks, instead of a few days. That she felt comfortable enough to let Sarah stay and watch her house for her. That if it wasn't for the Self-reliance classes, she might not feel that good about it. So we were blessed. Sarah's going to take her to the airport on Saturday.

Sarah then took me to the Don Day park to celebrate the engagement and other things with a glass of sparkling cider. We accidentally broke a glass jar, haha.

10/8 Letter #38 and Response

Dear Jacob,

Let me know if you don't want the BYU football updates, at least not the ones I sent you.

It's good to hear from you more often now. We worry sometimes and this takes away the worry from us. I hope it is not a burden writing those letters. I remember talking to the mission doctor on my mission. I remember feeling so low that I went into the bathroom to cry. At that time we lived in a Studio apartment and the bathroom was the only place to get some privacy. I called the doctor and he mentioned doing some breathing exercises. He also taught me a triangle something but I forget how that went. I actually went to see a doctor in Boone on my mission. I remember it well, because I didn't really feel sick, however, that was when I was comparing myself to an interstellar missionary like Elder Porter (who I was with at the time) and I wasn't doing myself any favors. The doctor was a member so he understood the feelings I was feeling and the structure of being on a mission. I remember being in the waiting room. I still have the doctor receipt from when I visited the doctor at the time (at least I think so).

Feeling terrible on the mission is one of the worst feelings. Especially the feelings of helplessness. My third companion, E. Yorgason, broke his leg with me. First of all, the drive back to the hospital was very stressful. When he finally got a cast and was on meds, we couldn't go out so much. He was pretty loopy as well. He had to walk with crutches, which made winter in the unhospitable land of Iowa, a pretty dangerous place. We would slide around houses on the ice that formed from melting snow the day before. It was just an all around crazy experience. He was only on meds the first day because of the pain, but after he got the cast, he was alright. Anyways, I guess I'm just trying to tell you is that everything will be alright. Things just take time to heal, is all.

Life here is great. I'm spending most of my free time with Sarah these days. The house is somewhat off limits, especially if dad wants to lounge around in garments. After we got home from our fourth Self-reliance classes, we brought out my computer on the front lawn and watched "One Good Man." I think you will remember it. It's about the man with a six kid family that becomes a bishop and the trials and experiences that befall him. My favorite scene from that movie is when his daughter is getting married to a man with non-member parents and he selflessly offers to stay outside with the in-laws and miss his daughter's wedding. I remember that the first time I watched it, I thought, man, I want to be like him someday, humble and selfless.

Mom and Dad took us out to eat. We had originally decided to go to El Pollo Rico, the hospitality lane peruvian restaurant in San Bernardino, but it was the busiest we had ever seen it. The food wait was over an hour long. We then drove back to Fontana and went to Mucho Gusto instead. Both Sarah and I got Tallarin Saltado (and Sarah's had a lot of juice) and Mom and Dad both got the Lomo Saltado. This was two days after Peru played Argentina. Dad was extremely happy about the outcome between them both which was a 0-0 tie because in tournament points, it puts Peru in the top 5, kicking Argentina out of the World Cup. Also, in the stats, Argentina had like 15 goal attempts but Gallese, the goalie was super amazing and blocked all the goals. The stats said that Peru had only like 2 or so goal attempts.

BYU scored the first touchdown, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough. It did look pretty hopeful for a time, but we got outscored. I'm glad you are not here to see this particularly bad season because you'd be banging your head against the wall the whole time. Sarah Rebecca, on the other hand, is loving just watching the games with me, so, I'll keep her. I've really gotten her into loving the BYU football, even with the crappy season. And, even though they are doing poorly, I still like watching my cougars fight (even if they're not putting up a big one).

It's pretty crazy that I'm going to get married. Everything is so surreal. We booked the temple on Tuesday for December 30th. We're still in the process of making sure we have the Stake Center. We'll probably call tomorrow again to see if it is available. We're going to talk about where we are going to live and about engagement pictures and all the things. I still really can't believe this is happening, that I'll be with the girl of my dreams in less than 90 days. We still need to get a marriage license, which is something we'll probably do this week.

OH, and we went to the temple on Wednesday to do sealings. So, we were at the altar as a couple, which was pretty cool to hold my sweetheart's hand and perform that ordinance.

Anyways, I hope this letter finds you well, my brother. I know good things are coming out of you.

I love you,

John

10/7 Day of Sarah and Seven Brides/Seven Brothers

Wow, what a marathon of a date Sarah and I had today. First, I picked her up to take her to building cleaning. I was in charge of the trashes around the building. The code for the trash lock outside is 0714, haha. Sister O'Neill was helping me with all the trashes. When I got that done, I found Sarah helping Claire Larson, relief society president, to wipe down the windows with the church's version of Windex. She was happy that I looked for her to help. We ate some donut, she the donut bites and I the maple bar and buttermilk, and listened to Sister O'Neill tell us about her first encounter with Brother O'Neill and their subsequent courtship.

Then, after that, she went with me to help Chris Michael Acosta with moving his furniture to the house two houses down. We first moved the drawers in a dresser. Then the big dresser. Then a little one. Then a table, his Flat screen tv, then his monitor and computer screen. All that took about an hour. He was happy that we could help him. We were happy to help. Even if Chris is somewhat weird. He called Sarah the lovely Sarah.

We then went to DI for a bit to check out what they had and go through my routine of first books, then games, then DVDs, and then we looked for suit jackets and furniture prices.

Then we did our things back home, like I did the Ward Council Agenda and worked on reading the Self Reliance lesson. Mom and Dad came down and we talked before we went to eat. We went to the Peruvian Restaurant on Hospitality Lane in San Bernardino, but for some reason it was super full, hour wait before food would be ready. So we turned around and went to Mucho Gusto, the Peruvian restaurant here in Fontana. Mom and Dad both got Lomo Saltado, and we both got Tallarin Saltado. We felt really good by the end. Dad was having fun with our waitress, who is going to Peru soon.

We both went back home so we could pick up my laptop. Then we went to the library where we had our first Family Council. We discussed finances because Sarah is in mondo-debt. We spent our whole time discussing the debt she was in, which wasn't an easy thing for her to do. I'm proud of her. We didn't get to other stuff. But we will in subsequent family councils. We have to because our wedding is coming up. We did call Bishop Hinckley about whoever was in charge of buildings. He wouldn't give us phone numbers. So we called around. We finally got a number to someone that could help us. We are just waiting to hear back from him.

We came home (except I forgot to call ahead of time to see if it was okay to come in. Dad was a little ticked) that we spent the time watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The movie was very good. Sarah really liked it. But she didn't like that after the movie was over, that I needed her to go home without watching Netflix. She thought it was a bit abrupt. Plus I was going to go with my mom to the Grocery Store to pick up food for missionaries tomorrow. Sarah's better right now after having time to calm down a bit.

Groceries was good.

Life is good, besides sometimes thinking that I can't go through a day without making someone mad or concerned or angry.

10/6 Blazing Morning Talks and Fifth game Lost

Well, all in all, today was mediocre. The conversation that I had with Sarah Rebecca last night and the conversation I had with my parents last night, lingered on and went on into today. Sarah came over around 11am and we baked in the sun while talking some more about what dad and mom talked to me last night. Novella Reed walked by and met Sarah while she was on a walk. I just don't know what to tell her. I guess I don't have a voice for my problems with my parents and what they want for me.

It lingered with her throughout the afternoon, while she went to the temple. She lost her keys in her locker at the temple. She couldn't find them at all and texted desperate for some kind of help. I offered a prayer and she found them. Her dad, Arno, was with her.

I had slept some, after I washed the dishes.

Dad got us some chicken. Told me I should go on a picnic, but it was too hot. Instead, we went to Wendy's and got the 4 for $4. The Wendy's was remodeled, and they had a fancy line of tv's that had a fireplace, but no heat.

Before we went on the date, Sarah was just a little mad at Mom and Dad for making us feel bad the last two days. I tried to calm her down, and after the date, she was better.

We watched the BYU vs Boise State football tonight. We scored the first touch down, but it was all down hill from there. We ended up losing 24-7. It was nice having Sarah by my side. It was great having her there with me and loving me. We then watched the last episode of farewell season of the Middle. She really liked it. Then I took her home.

We're going to clean the church tomorrow and then I am going to help Chris with moving some furniture. Chris Acosta.

10/5 So-so and Super Star Talks

Today was a so-so day.

I was teaching Mr. Tornberg's fifth grade class...and well, that was easier said than done. I had two crying girls (not at the same time, thankfully). A boy, named Justin, who was (and was previously) always out of his seat and doing things that weren't nice, like kicking yoga balls while people were sitting. I did learn another game called Medic. In it the two captains choose a medic who throughout the game touches people who have gotten hit in a dodgeball like fashion. However, there are three dodgeballs and if the Medic gets hit by a dodgeball at all, the whole team loses. Pretty fun to watch, even though I was standing in the heat of the day. The principal talked to me at the end of the day to ask if I knew what happened to one of the girls that was crying, at the end of the day. I honestly didn't know.

I came home pretty tired. I kept falling asleep during the first half of the soccer game between Peru and Argentina. Argentina had 22 goal attempts and Peru only had 2 or so. But Gallese, was the goalie of Peru and he saved a ton of the shots. We ended up tying the game, which dad was super excited about. He would have been even more excited had Peru scored a goal and won the game. So much so, that we would have gone to a Peruvian Restaurant.

We ended up going to Carl's Jr. instead. It was pretty good, though. I had my first Super Star. I don't think I've ever had a Super Star. I usually get Famous Stars.

I brought up the possibility of going to Sarah's family in central cali for Thanksgiving, and I got a lecture about how I am too passive about things and how Sarah is domineering. I told them both that maybe I have domineering parents. Mom was caught off guard by that comment. I also brought up that Mom has been hurt a couple of times by dad that I had to witness. Dad probably thought I was talking about getting too much meat, but I was talking about how he hurt her to tears once or twice. They even brought up that instead of staying with my sister Sarah and watching the rest of 2nd session with her, I went to The Roof with Sarah and Sarah M. Jenson.

Sarah got me a index card holder as a gift along with some juice we used on a date. We then talked about some of the conversation that I had with Mom and Dad tonight, about her being domineering and me being passive. I let her know that I don't feel like I should go to Thanksgiving with her family this year. We shall see how this unfolds. She was asking me why and things and I gave her the best answers I could give (like IDK).

Time to watch some Goldbergs and go to bed. I don't have to work tomorrow. BYU vs. Boise State tomorrow night.

10/4 Announcing at Jurupa Vista and temple intent

I told everyone at Jurupa Vista today that Sarah and I are getting married. Mrs. Fisk, Ms. Santos, Mrs. Ceja, Mrs. Raymondo, Mrs. H, Sister Davies and kids (who's reactions were priceless), Mrs. Martin (who invited me in her class room and gave me a hug), Mrs. Parlapiano, and Mrs. Shumate, the office managers. Most reactions were beautiful. When I told most that we are getting married in December, they said it was really soon. One (can't remember who), said we need to hold a party for me. That would be pretty amazing if they did that. It'd be crazy.

Mrs. Fisk's class was okay when she was there, but when she left, it got pretty chaotic. I don't know how first grade teachers can do it. You are just bombarded by a mess everywhere you go. We had three parents help with everything this morning (which was all dedicated to three class rotations of science: chromatology. Deriving colors from skittles with water. When she left, I just had them do centers, and read a story on the rug. Then they went home.

I took Sarah to Verizon and we added a line to my cell phone bill and 4GB of memory instead of 2GB.

Then I went home, said hi to mom and dad, read my scriptures, and napped a bit.

Then I got ready for the Temple night. Unfortunately, once again, only three out of my five names were done because Sister Ellsworth had a stack once again. We told Brother Hardy and Brother and Sister Harris the news. They were all excited. The Ellsworths, Harris, and Hailey Daker, Claire Larson, Sarah Nielson, Brianna Trost, and a couple temple workers made it. Once again, besides the adults, I was the only male YSA. Brother Sorenson, our sealer, had me and Sarah be a couple three or four times. I was witness once. It was a great night. We, Sarah and I, went into the Celestial Room for a few. And Sarah asked for a blessing, so I gave her one outside on a bench in a secluded circle. She wanted courage for her upcoming interview in the morning for a high paying job in Ontario. We also asked for inspiration to our questions in the temple. We always ask what our intent in going to the temple is or was.

10/3 Marriage post and Temple Scheduling

I slept in at Granny's house today. Sarah tried to wake me up twice before I was ready to get out of bed. Granny had cereal and corn muffins and toast for breakfast ready for us. Then, after getting situated we took Granny to the blood doctor so she could run some tests. Then we headed out towards Cali. The ride was really good. We listened to Brian Regan and talked about my mission, and a little bit about her mission. We talked a lot about her mission yesterday on the drive down to St. George. Mom called us as we were getting closer to Fontana and asked if we wanted Miguel's burritos. So, when we got back we had dinner.

We posted on Instagram and Facebook that we are getting married, last night. It got over 400 likes, loves, and surprise faces. Over 60 on Instagram. Crazy, right.

I watched The Middle with Mom this evening. The season premiere of the Last season of the middle. It was quite funny.

I called Tyler Hudrlik to tell him about the engagement and he was excited for me. Sharon, on the other hand, was not. She told me up front, that she didn't like the way Sarah treated Tyler in their last conversation with us at institute. Tyler just sat back and let me take the heat. However, I didn't really say anything against anything that Sharon said...so bad on me. It's too bad, though. Tyler got back on the phone and talked like nothing had happened. I told Sarah and she was sad, unfortunately.

We called the temple to schedule our Sealing. They asked for our membership record numbers and took down our information. Sarah asked if we could have Eldon Morgan be our sealer. They called us back later and told us he had put it into his plans to do so. And that he knew Sarah by name. So, it is really happening. It was quite a fun conversation as Sister Before told us about what to expect.

Besides Sharon, it's been a good day.

10/2 Foot doctors and Creamery Ranch

Once again, another perfect day.

We left Victor and Linda's house early this morning with tender goodbyes. Victor was very excited to see that I had proposed to Sarah. They were both happy for us. We went to Sarah's foot doctor in Farmington for about 30 minutes. It was a quick in and out. We then picked up Adele and had a good car chat with her before we dropped her off at the Orem train station to be picked up. Then we went to Wal-mart to pick up a few items for eating and McDonald's McDoubles and a fry. After that we went to the BYU Creamery Outlet for Fat Free BYU creamery Ranch that both Sarahs say is the best ranch out there. We said our goodbyes to Sarah in the creamery, we just got there on time to see her get there for her shift. Also, Jacob wrote me and Sarah had read both letters to me.

The drive was uneventful. We talked about our missions. We also listened to a Brian Regan CD on Spotify. We stopped to Rest for a bit. I needed that time to rest. Sarah was fine.

We had originally planned to go to Sarah's cousin's house but she was extremely busy and sick. So we asked Granny if she would like to have us over again. She, of course, graciously said that we could and shared a bean soup with us. We then proceeded to watch a couple Netflix shows: Stranger Things and West Wing.

We then said prayer with Granny and looked at Instagram. It was nice to be with Sarah.

10/1 Proposal and Marriage on the Horizon

Just copying and pasting from Jacob's letter:

"I'll just detail how I proposed so you get the whole story. So, I told you how I originally was going to propose last letter (in Redlands after a walk). Even after our plans changed to going to conference, I felt like I should still stick with that plan, waiting until I got home to propose. However, I brought the ring in the car door just in case. And during the last session of conference I really felt that maybe I should propose on our way back home. I thought where, and it popped into my mind that I should take her to a park we went to on our first date. It's called Nielson's Grove Park in Orem down the street from the Orem Wal-mart. We had such a fun time there the first time, that it wouldn't hurt. She was like okay when I surprised her to go to this park to walk. Well, she needed to go to the bathroom and while we were on our way, I stopped her. She looked back and I knelt on one knee and said, Sarah Rebecca Trefflich, will you marry me. She was almost in tears, Jacob. And she was so surprised. She said yes. When she hugged me, a couple who were walking towards us on the sidewalk started clapping and offered to take our pictures. It was just picture perfect, Jacob.

So, it's official brother. You are getting a new sister-in-law come December 30th.

Sarah was beaming, telling everyone we bumped into about the proposal."
