Hi Jacob!
How are you doing these days? Sorry about the double whammy last week about the Uke. I felt so bad about calling you out on it. I hope you know that I think you are doing a great job out there and I am so proud of you. Like I have said previously, you are a beacon of hope to our family, guiding all of us back into the fold. I'm sure mom told you about the new president of the Fontana Stake, so I won't delve into those details. She probably didn't tell you that I couldn't keep my eyes open throughout. Maybe I should have stayed home and slept in. But because I didn't take Brother Harris to church this morning, I totally forgot to check in on the Ham radio at 7:45am like I usually do.
I didn't take Brother Harris this morning because we had day #2 of a YSA conference at the Redlands California Stake Center, across the way from the Redlands Temple. Church didn't start until 3pm, but I had to get there by 1:45 because I was singing in the Choir. We sang My Kindness Shall Not Depart From Thee. Like always, when it's performance time, we did extremely well.
It was so awesome, at this conference, the key note speaker was the San Diego temple president, but I found out something very interesting: He and his wife were the mission presidents for the Iowa Des Moines Mission the years after mine were, President and Sister Talbot. I was able to say hello and introduce myself to him and he was super nice and knew all my areas, and knew by where I served that I served Spanish speaking.
The conference was also on Saturday. We played a lot of fun get to know you games and we also had some workshops that were very pertinent, like a self-reliance/finance one, one on marriage, and another on proper social media etiquette.
On Sunday, I bumped into a lot of people, including Elder Mansfield. He wanted to know all about your mission. He's still an elder and it was good running into him. McKay Westbrook was there, too. Don't know if he's still going out with that chick, and I didn't want to ask him. And I ran into Stephanie. It was hard because I was sitting on the stand with the choir, and she was the only one I knew in the crowd and so my eyes couldn't help but look at her. Fortunately it wasn't awkward, when we did finally say hi to each other. She's doing good.
Sarah Rebecca is doing well. She's actually planning on coming down to Cali next Friday through Sunday I think. And she's also moving down here at the end of August, beginning of September. So I am definitely looking forward to that. We've been talking a lot about marriage lately. I'll update you when things happen.
Anyways, you probs don't want to hear too much more about me. I love you, and happy 19th birthday this week! I love you sooooooooooooooooooooo much.
Keep up the awesome work and congrats on your baptism this weekend!
Love,
John
