It's been a good Sabbath/Fast Sunday. I actually met Sarah Trefflich through a video call via Facebook. It was so nice to see her and see her expressions and be with her in real time, even if it was sorta slow at some points. She is super cute, and it's nice to see that she was still in Sunday clothes (I wasn't). She noticed all the BYU paraphernalia that belong to Jacob. I sang her When I Am Baptized with the Uke and Beautiful Inside from Sons of Provo with the guitar. She let me know that I am suppose to take charge since I am the Priesthood leader. That she will help remind me but that I need to lead the home in Scripture Study, Family Prayer, and Family Home Evening. I totally agree with her. I'm glad she has an understanding of what she wants in a family. She told me I look handsome, and it was so good to see her in person, even if it was a video chat.
Today was good. I woke up with enough time to get ready and pick up Brother Harris. I did check in with my radio in the morning, but shortly fell asleep. On the ride with Brother Harris, he asked me if I could speak next Sunday. Of course I said yes, because I try to never back down from an assignment. I told him the last time I spoke was January 1, 2017, so almost six months ago to the date. I couldn't get out of it. He later told me the topic that he wants to hear from me. The topic is Testimony, and how a Testimony of the Book of Mormon has blessed my life. So I have a week to prepare. Hopefully, I won't obsess over like I do each time I have to teach or give a talk
I was having trouble staying awake in meetings today. It was most likely because I went to sleep late last night. I think I did go to sleep before 12, though. Claire Larson brought Cuban Chocolates that we couldn't eat because it was fast Sunday. Bishop had everyone smell them. They seemed to be a version of a peanut butter cup.
Break the Fast fireside was really good. Keynote speaker was President Michael Sears. I love that man. He use to be the stake president of the Fontana Stake. He even was the person who received me when I returned from the mission early. He helped me out with basic temptation problems I had. Anyways, he spoke to us, without notes seamlessly. He picked on me for demonstrations. He told a story of a time when he was teaching the youth and he noticed a young man listening to the lesson. After the lesson, he walked up to the young man and asked him, "Will you stay faithful, get married in the temple, and help build up Zion?" The whole time he was telling this story he was having me demonstrate a pinky promise. I said, yes I will, and he said good. Then a leader came up to him and told him that that boy was not a member of the church. He told the leader to work on him because he's feeling the Spirit. President Sears had me write down answers on the board. Oh, and I was thinking, it was funny, because, after it was done, Claire Larson complimented me on a bracket that I made to some of the information on the board.
The list was those things men and women want in a future spouse. Those things were:
Current Temple Recommend
Priesthood
Worthy
Reciprocation
Loves God
Repentant
Finds Joy
Be your BEST self
Dedicated
Serving
Unified
Prayerful
Seeks Revelation
Communicative
Patient
Courteous
Worker/Has Goals
Relationship with Christ
All good things that I want in my future spouse as well, and ALL things that Sarah exemplifies.
President Sears asked me afterward about my dating life. I thought things were pertinent to me because he told the story of how he met and courted his spouse. Sister Sears was a girl she met on his mission who he waited to write until he was done with his mission. She was expecting a letter. They dated five times before he felt he knew he wanted to marry her. He also shared that he had a dream that led him to ask him to marry her. All great things. I told him about Sarah and how things are going and he told me, she's out there.
Break the Fast meal was pretty good. It was a white chili with cheddar cheese. It was really good.
