I survived my first perfect week of being an SDC long-term sub. To put it in better terms, I thrived throughout this week. Today was difficult. Day 2 of Mrs. Ramos not being there and things run amok. We did a ton of stuff on computers today and yesterday. Fortunately we had Mrs. Hernandez in our room helping us. She's an SDC aide from Mrs. Raymondo's class. She helped out so much, it's crazy. Those kids are going through the ringer with no real teacher and changes here and there. It is hard for them to trust in us as a teaching unit. No wonder they listen only to Mrs. Ramos, she's the only constant in their life. Even Mrs. Yusef is new. We had an okay day, though. The kids couldn't get off the computer. I learned that the aides reward good work with drawing or free time. Because for some reason when I try to get them to work with me in the back, they just don't do too much and take control of the situation, which I don't like. Overall, today was a good day, with some challenges.
For date night, we went to Jollibee, a chicken and noodle restaurant, Filipino. It was also connected to a fish filipino grocery store and bakery. It was actually pretty neat. They had purple pastries cooked with a type of purple yam. The food was okay. The fried chicken was extremely great.
Chris Michael Acosta called and wanted to meet and ask for money. He asked for $5, but I gave him $10. He just moved recently again and is still having problems with new roommates and he's also living in the high desert and using up too much gas. The money was for gas. He took us to Barnes and Noble and we talked for about 15 minutes. Sarah asked how I was feeling after talking to him, and I wasn't a ten. So she wanted to help me feel better. I guess I just want things to work out for Chris so he doesn't have to ask for money.
Earlier, while I was at work, Gus Falcon texted me asking if I wanted to see Thor Ragnarok with him and his family and friends tonight. I asked Sarah and she approved and so we agreed to see it at 8:30pm. It was he and Arcy, Axel and George, Sandy and Charlie. They saved seats for us and gave us popcorn to eat as well. The movie was pretty good. I don't know, Thor is not one of my very favorite superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He comes across as sorta a dunce. It was good to see the hulk though, since he was missing from Civil War. Black Panther is next. And in the DCEU comes Justice League in December.
It was fun talking with them all afterwards. And I saw Mr Crowl sp? from Jurupa Vista at the same theater.
Sarah and I watched 5 or so minutes of Stranger Things and then kissed outside for a bit and then I said my goodbyes and we talked on the phone for a while.
