11/6 Ward Talent Show and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe begins

I introduced The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to my SDC class today. It was a bit rough because they are out of their reading aloud routine since last week. But we got through the first chapter. Mrs Ramos was totally on board with starting this book instead of Stealing Home that they had previously tried to read aloud to them. I can't wait until they are taken by this book as much as I have been taken by the book. Mrs. Ramos found worksheets online for them to do, so we should be starting that tomorrow.

Nothing too crazy happened today. Besides regular behavioral problems, the day went by without a real big hitch.

I drove Katie Sturgess to the church early so she could practice for the talent show. We had many good performances including stand-up comedy from Mitch Stewart, an awesome song sung with the guitar, a very moving piece sung by Katie Jorgenson,  a stirring anime song by Tyler Frederick, and Alyssa Roman did her aerial acrobatics hanging from a sheet on a basketball court.

Sarah asked for a blessing because she was feeling very overwhelmed. She bounced right back up and MC'd the whole event. She even did a bit of Stand-up herself, sharing a story from her childhood that was quite funny about scarfing down a huge peanut butter and jelly sandwich and regurgitating it. Alyssa personally thanked me with helping her put the sheets up and getting the ladder ready. We had to first find the huge ladder, and right afterwards take it down. She did the height stuff, but the ladder was huge and required help from a lot of men. It was good though.

Asked the Harris's to take Katie home, and went to Sarah's house to talk and kiss before I left her.

Good night.

Oh, Sarah and I didn't perform like we thought we might. We hadn't practiced well enough. We tried to practice yesterday, but it was getting super difficult and frustrating. I did however play the piano for the opening song. So my talent was definitely shown.

Life has been really good. In most ways. Sarah and I decided to start a weightloss program called Optavia. We are a week and two days in to...
