Alex Speiser contacted me this morning at my request (the morning wasn't my request, but contacting was). He listened to me and Sarah talk about my woes and worries and my illnesses and my diagnoses. After about 45 minutes, he told me he thought I should work through two of his "classes" or "workshops," and he felt when I first contacted him that that was what I should do. He told me I could do it for free, except that he would accept $200 to keep me accountable and would give me the money back if I followed through and go through the two seven week programs. One program is weeding, and the other is visualizing. What I didn't know is that he wasn't going to walk me through the program or lessons, that he already has too much on his plate. But he was encouraging, and I'm going to take him up on his offer.
I taught at Jurupa Vista today, half day (of my own choosing). It was Mrs. Raymondo's class, and when I first signed up for it, I hadn't noticed it was for half day. But it was a good thing I took it, because when I saw her at the end of my half day, and told her that I was coming back for three days next week, she said she could rest at ease that it was me that was teaching her class. That was a nice boost of confidence. I do like her SDC class a lot. They were all excited to see me. And they were sad to see me go. I really connected with Oscar (but he's easy to connect with) and Evelyn. Stephanie was sent home early because she was crying. None of us teacher really knew what was really the matter with her. Mrs. Ceja was recovering from sickness. She wasn't her total upbeat self this morning when she greeted me, which I thought was odd, but afterwards, understandable.
I came home and gave Sarah two grilled cheese sandwiches, and one for me and some soup.
Then, I went to the Guillen's house to begin teaching her four kids about the piano. I was kinda nervous. She started me off with the oldest to the youngest first. So I was with Vivi first. Boy was that a bit nerve-wracking. She knows a lot, as do all the children, but they're all a bit rusty. I took the books that they learned out of home so I can go over them and buy them some new ones. I taught Luis about chord progression, because he is already proficient at guitar, and I wanted to give him a head start at stuff in his field. Both Edward and Benny had forgotten how to read music, so I started them off with how to read things in the G-clef like FACE and EveryGoodBoyDoesFine. Benny was cool, and I found out after the fact that he can play the guitar.
After my lessons, I spoke with Becky Guillen, Hna Guillen, for a good 30 or so minutes. She's pretty cool. She let me raise the price from the previous teacher's $60, to $70 (because she flat out said no to $80, haha). I got to learn stuff about her, like how she knows Briana from working with her before she got married. I learned some other things too.
I came home and Sarah was cooking the pork chops and she made a great glaze and vegetables to go with it. We watched the beginning of the Gonzaga vs. BYU final, but they blew it by 20 points. We stopped it before it got that bad, and watched one of my favorite Flash Zoom episodes from season 2.
Good day.
