5/21 Really Late Letter #118

Hi Brother!

I can't wait to see what's in store for you in several weeks. I just got the email of your picture that you sent to Jarom and Spencer. It was very well thought out, and it made me feel good, so I'm pretty sure they liked it too. I mean, Jarom emailed you back and everything seems to be lining up for you. Isn't that exciting?!? I had a thought that came to me after I read your email. Man, if they ask for audition tapes or any type of proof that you have experience in front of a camera, all you have to do is show them one, if not all, of your Book of Mormon LIVE videos and Bam, you're definitely in. And if you need to show them how you've improved, just show them the first and the last, or at least a video of which you love of the ultimate few. Either way, you seem to be well remembered and what's even cooler is they said they are hiring! I'm so excited for you!

I may or may not write you about it later, or elaborate it in my next email to you, but for sake of time, last week was so cool and crazy at the same time.

The major highlight of the week was the funeral for Chris Laguna, Sarah (and now my, brother--in-law). He was Lisa's husband. She is the eldest sibling in the family. They together had two teenage kids. He died of a bursted blood vessel around the brain, probably a brain aneurysm. Difficult thing because he was so young, or at least not really up there in age.

We left Wednesday afternoon, after work, stayed with our Mom and Dad the night, and the following day we traveled to Torrance. That afternoon, I helped dress his body with the assistance of Jonathan Martin, our brother-in-law, and Lisa, and an Elders Quorum President named Mike Bailey, and a lot of guidance from the mortician. It was definitely a humbling experience, since I have never done it before. I wasn't grossed out as much as I thought I'd be. He looked good.

The funeral was really nice. Sarah, her sister Christina and I were asked to do a musical number on the lfy of a piece of music called Pie Jesu. I learned it on the fly that Thursday, and practiced it several times over with them on the organ. It turned out really well.

Anyways, long story short, because there were many things that happened while we were there, we had a good experience participating and being with the family the weekend. Even today (Tuesday) I am still exhausted from the late night trip back on Sunday.

I could elaborate more, but I just wanted to get an email out to you, just so you know I haven't forgotten you.

Love,

John
