3/17 Letter #111

Hey Brother!!!

How are you these days?

It's good to hear that you are doing so well in everything, that everything is working out for you. I know that you are being blessed for your efforts, and because of what YOU do, us as a Family, are being blessed a well.

This week was Spring Break. It was really nice. Not to have to worry too much about constant work was just nice. I mean, I did work every week day this week, but only for five hours each day, so the days of work went by pretty smoothly. Sarah even picked up some shifts at the warehouse, which was her plan.

It was just kinda a nice relaxing week.

On Wednesday night, after discussing finances (we had gotten paid on Wed instead of Thur for some reason this week), I brought up that Captain Marvel had just come out and I was wondering if Sarah wanted to see it in the last few days of our break. What surprised me, but probably shouldn't have surprised me is that Sarah was down, and not just in the next few days, at that very instance. I was kinda shocked, not remembering that we had see practically every Marvel movie that had come out since we got married (Ant-man and the Wasp, Infinity War, Black Panther, etc.). We went and saw the 9:30 PM showing. It was spectacular, both the movie, and the outing of being with my wife at a movie theater that she and I had never been to. After the movie, Sarah and I spent our time walking around the theater and taking some pics and then walking around the complex, looking at the stores and talking about the movie. Mind you, it was already probably around 12 midnight by this point, but it was a nice walk and fun to do. I also climbed a tree. You read right. I climbed a tree outside of the theaters. It was quite enjoyable.

Sarah had seen a Chili's in the complex, so we had a hankering to go, but since it was late it had already closed. That didn't stop us from going the next day after we went on a Gilbert Temple Walkabout (it is closed for a little while). Even though we wanted to go, it was kinda a spur of the moment decision as well, but we were glad we went because besides the amazing food they offer there (which all seems to be in packages for some reason), Sarah ran into a very prominent author Leslie Householder, who wrote several books that Sarah had read, pretty much about living a more abundant life. Sarah had also gone to her workshop when we went to the Energy Healing Conference a couple weeks ago. So, the suddeness of going was really no short of a miracle.

The temple was as beautiful as ever and we walked around twice. It still was a bit chilly in the night air, but we know that that is going to be going away very soon. We talked, and joked, and pretended (or at least I pretended) to jump the fence and trespass. Really, going to the temple is always a sacred experience, especially when I get to go with my wife.

I got Sarah several presents for her birthday this year. She's going to be 33 on the 27th of March, which is a Wednesday. Picked up stuff from Deseret Book and later on Friday night, I went to Tempe to pick up a present for her as well.

That same night, our friend, Heidi Greathouse, invited us over to talk and to play Mario Kart Wii. Let me say that again, MARIO KART WIIIIIIIIII! You know how much I love that game, and if you didn't before, you know now, hehe. In fact, I did so good on the first race, I got first place right off the bat. Sarah wanted to trade controllers because she couldn't handle the nunchuck feel, and I was doing the driving with controller feel, so for the next three races I had nunchuck, which wasn't as productive. We had an intermission where we made a Wii Mii, or someone that looked like both Sarah and I on Heidi's Wii. It was pretty fun. Then we played another four races and called it a night. I did better than everybody (but I'm not competitive). Not. It was sooo much fun.

I don't remember if I wrote this down last week, but Sarah and I invited several people to our house for FHE at the Sister Missionary's request. Not only were there two converts, Anna Martinez and Valeria Lozoya, but we also invited at least two of the kids Ellena and Romeo Perez. What's cool is they weren't the only two that came. They also brought three of their cousins, Ariel, Aliyah, and another one that I can't remember. So, we had a Funhouse, a full funhouse on Monday, the greatest number of people in our apartment at one time. 11 people. It was pretty fun. I loved being with the kids. And Sarah had the idea of ordering some Pizza. I had to regulate, 3 pizzas each child. I personally ate 5 slices, I think.

Tuesday was good. Sarah had been feeling a bit sick the previous days, but in a blessing, she was told to attend the Relief Society Guerrero Park Celebration. As you will see in some of the pics, they had a pioneer-esque themed party. I was the only one to help set up the chairs for the event and tables, and by the end of the event, I got all the men playing soccer (not all from our branch) to help take down. Also, I was running around getting people their reimbursement checks. They gave us brethren a portion of the food they were serving. My favorite being the mashed potatoes, which Elizabeth Santos made. Sarah looked cute in her pioneer clothes. The relief society in the branch actually made those clothes in previous weekly activities. She had a great time.

That same day/night, we watched Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It had been a movie much anticipated by me. It was good, but I bet the next ones will be better, hopefully. Which reminds me, I didn't tell you about Captain Marvel. I loved it. I know our sister Sarah didn't like it as much compared to others, and I get her point, but I just loved the nods to other movies, and basically she has amazing powers. But you will have to watch it when you get back.

At Amazon, they have been having me learn a new thing called FreshRisk, or just Risk. It is not as hard as it use to be, or secluding as it use to be. I am actually quite enjoying it. It's a change, but a nice one. But what was funny is that the person who trained me had about an hour's worth of training before he trained me, and then the same day, I trained another person everything I knew. Anyways, 25 hours max is what I planned and it was what I worked.

Last, but not least, we got to have a Sibling Chat on Saturday morning. It was nice being able to see and talk to the girls, and Cohen, of course. He's as cute as ever.

Well, I love you, bro.

Take Care,

John
